Sorry but …. not writing tonight … changed my mind …

I was not going to write.  But then I changed my mind.   Sometimes it is delayed thoughts.  What inspired me to write is a blog that I just read.  When I read it, I was humbled by how someone that has never met me, is able to write such compelling thoughts of wisdom and knowing.  If you want to read these words, they are here in this blog – Finding Ohna.  It made me think about all those people out there that know about me and Amanda.  These are the same people who inspire me, encourage me, pick me up when I am down, make me laugh and sometimes make me cry with their awesome words.  These virtual friends are doing the same thing as the friends in my real world.  I am blessed that they have found me and vice versa.  These virtual friends protect me against what is out there in the cyberworld.  Learning all about the internet is like building a lego castle.  It starts with one piece at a time.  And sometimes one may ask, what colour comes next.  Is there a 4 or 6 or 8 nubbed piece that goes next.  Will it stand up or fall down.

I received about 5 You Tube videos tonight.  Some of them were videos about cyberbullying.  I didn’t post these ones even though they were really well done.  I have to tell the reason why.  They were graphic in the sense that they visually demonstrated a ‘means of death’.  Although powerful to the meaning of the video, I personally don’t feel that it needs to be included.  Kids these days are visual learners.  They don’t need to see it or hear about it.  They see too much already.   I feel that the message can be conveyed without that piece.  Maybe I am being overly sensitive because I have recently lost a child who took her own life.  I don’t know.  But I do know that when watching the movie Bully, whenever the means of death was mentioned, people take a breath and even maybe cry.  Yes, it tugs at the heart of us adults.  But we don’t have to fill our sensitive and impressionable teenagers with these visions.

A great thing that happened today was that Michael Bell did yet another radio interview.  He also mentioned Amanda again.  You see, this is another virtual person who I can now call a ‘friend’ who has become personally attached to Amanda’s story.  If we can keep spreading Amanda’s Legacy, it can only help.

Michael Bell did a radio interview today.  Go to 77 minutes to start listening to when he starts talking about Amanda.

Thanks to Canada Post, Michael recieved a whole bunch of bracelets today.  It got there in less than a week.  I would love to see Amanda’s bracelets be the reminder that the world needs to keep working on ‘Making the Difference’ with bullying/cyberbullying/mental health awareness.  There were initally 3000 first edition bracelets out there in the world.  I recently had to order 3000 more (second edition) bracelets and they are almost all gone.  Thank you to Walmart (Port Coquitlam) for fundraising and selling 800 bracelets in a week.  It’s time to order another 4000 more.  Problem is that the bracelets are a tad costly.  It’s actually the shipping and taxes that make up 50% of the total cost.  Hard to imagine but true when shipping overseas.

Email bogs me down.  I have many interviews still pending.  It’s trying to find the time to do them all.  My head is swirling.  I would love for someone to drag me away to someplace warm where there is no internet so I won’t be forced to sneak peeks.  But then I couldn’t even imagine what life would be like upon my return.

What will happen when I return to work?  I certainly don’t want Amanda’s Legacy to slow down to nothing.  Will all of you out there help me to make sure it doesn’t???

Nighters to all xoxo …..  sleep well PS xoxo

I usually get to this post only in the evening after work, so I worry that you may not get to read my comments. But rest assured that I am tremendously motivated to help. Amanda’s star needs to shine bright! I am thinking up some ideas that I will share soon.
