Amanda Todd Story

In the moments of bittersweet memories, I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to the team at the Vancouver Sun who tonight, won the Jack Webster Award for Best News Reporting of the Year (Print).  My special thanks to Gillian Shaw and Mark Yuen for coming into my home with limited expectations, being understanding through the tragic first weeks of loss and writing and videographing the story with compassion and thoughtfulness.

About Carol Todd

Being the mother of Amanda Todd has lead me on this journey shortly after Amanda's death on October 10, 2012. Amanda's prolific You Tube video has been viewed over 33 million times. Through this video, there has been an increased awareness about cyberbullying, social media safety and mental health.

In the early days when I had my first exposure to the news surrounding Amanda, much of my understanding came from Gillian Shaw’s compassionate reporting. I congratulate Gillian and the Vancouver Sun team for showing the world the power of good journalism.
