Yesterday was the day. The day that we delivered the Christmas gifts and goodies to our family through SHARE (a community giving organization where we live in Canada). We didn’t know who they were. Just that it was a mom with a 15 year old daughter. How wonderful as it reminded me of Amanda.
Finding things that a 15 year old liked brought back my happy moments. Going through the make-up departments of stores while Amanda ‘sampled’ perfumes. Saying to her ‘quit spraying it all over and you are smelling mighty flowery’. Amanda’s favourite scent was vanilla. She also loved vanilla ice cream, vanilla timbits and vanilla cupcakes. So in our family it was easy — her brother loved chocolate and Amanda loved vanilla. No fighting. Except what happened when the ice cream was marbled — or if the vanilla cake had chocolate icing — or the vanilla icing was on top of the chocolate cake. Well of course the right answer would be … just eat it anyway. BUT the reality of it was … I would find the part each child of mine didn’t like left on the plate for the other to find and eat. I guess teaching them to SHARE was a good thing.
Today – giving via Amanda’s Legacy was one of those Kodak moments in life. Due to privacy reasons, we have no Kodak image. The many wonderful things in the bags were definitely collected and given with LOVE and CARING. I loved seeing the happy faces. I love seeing the smiles of joy.
Would love to do this at other times during the year.
Thank you to my friends and JG’s friends for helping out with this project. Stay tuned for the next one – The Enchantment Project.
I also saw this on the Facebook wall of one of Amanda’s friends. It was too good not to share. #SayItWithSnowflakes
